Nauticus To Host 50th Anniversary Screening of “The Endless Summer”

Prepare for a high-energy Memorial Day weekend event that will "stoke" surfers of all ages! The Global Surf Network (GSN) has partnered with Bruce Brown Films to present The Endless Summer's 50th anniversary.
The City of Norfolk and Nauticus are hosting the inaugural East Coast Surf Film & Music Festival, which provides the backdrop for this summer's most memorable surf celebration. In addition to a newly digitized release of the surfer classic The Endless Summer, the festival will include concerts, presentations by water sports experts, educators, and surf film directors, as well as additional screenings of surf films and much more.
Local bands Cha Cha's Cadillac and Bekah Eden & Friends, as well as Florida's Aquanuts Surf Band and the internationally renowned Mojo Collins, will perform surf music throughout the weekend. Saturday bands will perform on the fantail of the Battleship Wisconsin from noon to 4:45 p.m.
Three independent surf films will commence playing at 3:00 p.m. in the Nauticus Theater. Dust, Resin, Water, directed by Troy Cryder of Virginia; Hundred Miles to the End, directed by John Beattie of New York; and Connected to the Sea, directed by Dr. Diane Wehrell-Grabowski of Florida are among the featured films. The event will conclude at 8:00 p.m. with the East Coast premiere of The Endless Summer.
Participants in the film and music festival will have the opportunity to donate to three organizations that support U.S. military service members and veterans: Wounded Warrior Project, Wounded Wear of Virginia Beach, and the USS Wisconsin. It will be possible to purchase the iconic movie poster. Every engagement is accessible to the public. In the theater, seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
